Bennetton, Teheran #279
Competition for a new Head Shop Benetton in Teheran
2009
The building shows a strong expression which ”brands“ the site.
The facade is filled with carefully placed leaf-like openings, offering large entrances and creating picturesque light situations. The insight as well as the look-outs are stunning.
The facade creation links the classical ornamental language of the Muslim culture with modern western architecture, forming a unique building – both in day and night time – which provides accurate illumination and gives the site its particular identity.
The inside atrium characterises the building, with hanging gardens, trees, bamboo and a fountain that create an ‘oasis-feeling’ amidst the lively city. The covered hall offers a choice of shopping, working, meeting and leisure space. The plants provide a comfort micro-climate.
Interior gardens on various levels become flexible spaces for a variety of functions: from casual conversations to alternative meeting spaces. The transparent building allows daylight to flood into every corner of the interior.
- The ground floor is open towards the atrium, forming a 1500m2 open space;
- The 1st floor is open with an atrium balustrade;
- On the 2nd floor there is a café surrounded by tropical green, a place to relax or meet friends before or after shopping / work.
- The office spaces are located on floors 3rd to 6th , with flexible layout possibilities, for example with steel kingpin trusses.
- On the 7th floor you can find the apartments, with balconies.
The building is of high quality, with its layout specifically designed from a cost-benefit perspective.
There is an operable skylight, with double facade, aimed at including sustainable energy strategies.
The choice of materials include: concrete, clear and coloured glass, galvanised steel, Jatoba wood, and a well-designed colour concept.
